i wanna thankyouuuu

I want to thank you all wonderful campers! This camp was something amazing. This was my first camp as one of the leaders and you guys made it the best experience of my life. Congra!

I hope that you are all now safe home. Or anyway safe somewhere.. Although I wish more that you would still all be here in Finland. I think that all agree that the last day was reeeally hard. But 'cause it was so hard to say goodbyes, it means that we became close to each other. I couldn't stop crying in two days. But now when I look all the lovely and funny pictures and videos we have, they bring also a smile to my face.

We have to continue keeping in touch so our new friendships will last. You can all write here to the blog whatever you want. I love you all, and I miss you! I don't know how I can keep living without you.. Maybe I'll figure that out someday.. Please, write here to the blog!

There's no words to describe what I feel so I just say: I love you sooo much!!!!

Tuesday the 5th

Our fifth day at the camp was dedicated to forest. First we of course took our instruments and practised for the concert, but after lunch we went orientiering. We got a short lesson about reading and using a map. We dived into the forest in eight groups. There was a roup in the forest that we could follow. Each group got an "emit" to control their time. We saw some Finnish forest and even found blackberries!
The exhausted athletes left for a "savusauna" (smoke sauna) five kilometers from Särsjärvi. This time boys got the honour to go to sauna first. It was a dark place with a huge "kiuas" and black walls. When boys were in sauna, girls saw some Finnish plants, trees and berries and the other way around. After girls had also enjoyed the "löyly", we saw our dinner digged out from ground. It was rubber roast, rosvopaisti in Finnish. The food was delicious: moose, kanttarelli-sauce, potatoes, lingonberry jam and salats. We ate a LOT!
After singing "We wanna thank you" to our hosts, the bus took us back to our camp house.

Day 4: Monday, 4. Aug.

Again and again we woke up with a wonderful whistle =Pp (before going back home one of the leaders might be killed for this.) However, there was also music=) After a ''herkullinen'' breakfast, we started to play again in order to be ready for the concert. Each group (tried to) practise their songs hard...

We ate salmon for lunch and Iina (our perfect group leader) didn't like it.

Then, the canoeing, (we don't know if it is correct spelling) a very wet experience, was the programme for the afternoon.We enjoyed a lot, but our arms are still hurting=) We need our hands for playing our instruments, but they are still insisting about making us do sports.

For dinner we sang the "food song" that we sing before every meal. (oh please... someone should change it!!!) We cannot stand it anymore=) We ate rice with chicken and carrot salad with pineapple and "punajuuri".

Girls sauna started at 6.30 pm. Hahaha we enjoyed a lot (sauna-lake-sauna....like an endless procedure=Pp) Our lovely leaders hit us with "vihta" without mercy=) The whole sauna room was full of leaves when we left to let the boys in =P

We had last camp fire full of sadness and "tikkupulla". Linne, one of the leaders, and some of us came back inside to prepare hot tea for others, because it was freezing though fire.

Even if we were completely tired, we danced and sang and played and laughed and ... till one o'clock.

Then of course we slept like babies for waking up the next day with full of energy.

Day 3: Sunday, 3. Aug.

After a musical wake-up call and raising the flag of Finnland, we had some breakfast.
At 9:30 we started rehearsing for the concert on Friday, and had a lot of fun, there was music everywhere. We ate for lunch some chicken legs with rice(a big compliment for the kitchen!!!). Until the tea time at 3:00, we had free time, which we passed with playing soccer, or just chatting, or some of us even went to sleep(hmm, let us guess why...).

Then the big COG (Campmusica Olympic Games) started.Everything was perfectly organised. We had a lot of official guests, in person: the mayor of Padasjoki, Heikki Jaakkola, Pirkka Ahola, from the Lions Club and Susanna Paavola with her husband. We took part in the disciplines like throwing a gumboot as far as possible, playing Darts and Mölkky, tearing ropes and throwing raw eggs. Everyone enjoyed the games and we laughed a lot.
At the end of the COG the mayor of Padasjoki hold a little speech, and he offered us a nice present: A pin of Padasjoki and some chocolate mints(mmhhh...)

After the dinner, the girls could go first to the sauna (today 90 minutes!!!), followed by the boys, and we enjoyed being together. We took down the flag, and went to the bonfire, to grill delicious sausages. The evening faded out with chatting, laughing, making music and dancing at midnight...

Saturday 02.08.2008

It was a beautiful sunshine morning when one of the group leaders blew my ears out with their whistles. After the wake up call all of us proceeded outside to raise the proud standing Finland flag, then we proceeded to breakfast, ate something and then me and my band members hit the basement and played something. It was that day when we started our progran for the concert, than played a little more, had fun (just for information it's always fun in the music camp) and lunch I really don't remember what we had for lunch, but nevertheless it was delicious.

After lunch we had some physical activities, and played some games.

Then we stayed inside and had some conversations and told some jokes.

Of course we play all the time but it's all fun.

The nights are joyful because everyone is sitting arround and just talking, total silence is at 1 a.m.

1/8 Day 1 - Arriving to the Camp

When we arrived, first we settled down in our room and gathered in the common place. We put our name on our shirts and we got to know each other.

Everybody had to take their instruments and play something for the artistic leader Ilkka and his sons Jyri and Eero so that they could think about dividing the people into smaller groups.

When nearly everyone arrived, we gathered in the front room and we played games to make ourselves familiar with the names.

Firstly, we had to say others' names and then ours and the next turn went on. We all had quite a good memory and the turns went on fast.

Secondly, we were told that the towel papers in the camp had been running out and we only left one roll of towel papers. We took turns to take the papers that we needed, but at the end we were all faked and we had to tell about myself. So when we got longer towel papers, we had to tell more about ourselves.

Thirdly, we played a game that needed one hitter. When names were called, the hitter had to go to that person and hit him or her. We played together and we laughed together.

At night, some of us went downstairs to listen to Akito, Lucia, Stefan, Emir and Hadas to play their wooden and electric guitars. And later on, Alexander went in the room and played Ping Pong. Then we went up to Emir's room and listened to his guitar and Gül's singing.

After ping pong, some person went to forest arround the lake. We went to a float on the lake and looked for a monster. It was so fun and laughed together, but it was so cold night.

Finally we went to bed at 1:00 at night!

Letter to participants of Camp Musica

Padasjoki 18th July 2008

Dear participants of Camp Musica,

I hope you have settled in with your host families and enjoy the Finnish summer. Unfortunately weather has not been too kind so far, but we are hopeful it will improve for August.

Welcome to Camp Musica 1^st – 9^th Aug 2008. We will meet in Padasjoki on Friday 1^st Aug, between 3 – 6 pm. At 6 pm we will have dinner together and start to get to know each other during our evening programme 7.30 pm -. We have sent your host families instructions how to find the camp site.

Our aim is to create good camp community and international fellowship with mutual respect and understanding. We hope we have a good time together. We play music in smaller groups and prepare concert to be held on Friday 8^th Aug at 8.30 pm in the church of Padasjoki. Don’t panic. You need not be a professional or half-professional musician. We hope we can play and sing together in a relaxed atmosphere. If you feel that your skills are not good enough, let’s practice together!

Hello from Istanbul

Hello,

I am one of the participant of The Camp Musica !

First of all I want to introduce myself.
My name is Emir (male) and I am 20.
I am studying Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University
I am living in İstanbul for 3 years (from the beginning of university)
I am playing guitar for 9 or 10 years and I am singing for 4 years.
I am playing and singing in very different project also in different kinds.
I mostly like singing and playing soft musics but I try to imrove myself in other kinds too.
I have a Classical Turkish Music training for 2 years, which also known as Ottoman Music.

After these information lines about myself I want to ask some questions about the camp.
Will we have live performance on stage alone or together at the camp?
Is there any training about any kind of music in camp?
and lastly
Will we attend any concerts in Finland because I know Finland as the heart of metal music.
